Avianca Costa Rica Launches New Route Connecting San José, Buenos Aires, and Quito
Avianca Costa Rica is set to expand its network starting October 30 with a new flight route connecting San José, Costa Rica to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a stopover in Quito, Ecuador. This new route will operate four times a week, offering travelers more options to explore South America and beyond.
The airline will operate this route using a fleet of nine aircraft, including three Airbus A319-100s, five Airbus A320-200s, and one Airbus A321-200. Passengers can now travel between Costa Rica, Ecuador, and various international destinations across the U.S., Mexico, El Salvador, and Colombia, opening up more opportunities for convenient connections and exploration.
Avianca’s Commercial Manager for Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, Gustavo Esusy, emphasized that this route would contribute to the growth of local tourism and boost the economies of all three countries. With flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays between San José and Buenos Aires, and return flights from Buenos Aires to San José on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, travelers can enjoy flexibility and convenience. Flights between San José and Quito will be available three times a week.
Looking ahead, Avianca is also planning to enhance its connections to Brazil. In 2023, the airline intends to launch a new route from São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) to Cartagena International Airport (CTG) in Colombia, further expanding its network in South America.
Currently, there are approximately 36 weekly flights between Colombia and Brazil, operated by Avianca, LATAM, and Viva Colombia, with routes from Bogotá to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, as well as from Medellín to São Paulo. Avianca’s new route between San José, Buenos Aires, and Quito reflects the airline’s ongoing commitment to connecting travelers to a wide array of exciting destinations.
