Top Travel Trends of 2024 Revealed by EasyJet and easyJet Holidays
If you're already daydreaming about your 2024 getaway, you're not alone! EasyJet and easyJet holidays just shared their top travel trends, and the results are making us want to pack our bags ASAP. The insights came as the airline launched its biggest-ever Big Orange Sale, offering up to 20% off more than two million seats across Europe and up to £300 off package holidays — but you’ll need to grab these deals before February 5, 2024.
Where is Everyone Going?
In the UK, classic favorites like Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva, Alicante, and Malaga topped the booking charts during the first week of the sale. Interestingly, other destinations showed a surprising surge compared to last year. Hurghada (Egypt), Rovaniemi (Lapland), and Milan saw a noticeable jump in popularity.
Other rising stars included Prague, Nantes, Berlin, Bilbao, and Verona — proving that travelers are eager to mix familiar favorites with new adventures.
Package Holidays Are Still a Hit
If you're wondering what's hot in 2024, package holidays continue to dominate, especially all-inclusive, week-long stays. The beach is still calling — with Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Hurghada among the most booked beach destinations. On the flip side, city lovers are opting for short escapes to spots like Paris, Amsterdam, and Iceland for 3–5-night breaks.
Christmas & Boxing Day = Peak Planning Time
EasyJet also noticed a holiday booking boom during Christmas. Website and app visits spiked over 40% on Christmas Day and nearly 80% on Boxing Day compared to last year. Most people booked between 4 PM and 6 PM — proving holiday planning is the perfect post-Christmas tradition!
Winter Sun, Ski Slopes & Summer Dreams
January flights were highly sought-after, as Brits rushed to catch last-minute winter sun in places like Tunisia, Hurghada, and Almería. Meanwhile, ski lovers focused on Geneva, Lyon, and Innsbruck, with easyJet even expanding its ski routes by adding three new aircraft in Switzerland — aiming for a 20% boost in ski flights this year.
As for summer, May is shaping up to be the month of choice, thanks to half-term deals to destinations like Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, and Faro. August looks set to be the top month for package holidays, with Faro already becoming the summer's most booked destination.
Other trending spots include Sharm El-Sheikh, Agadir, Malta, Verona, and Valencia, all showing signs of being even more popular than last year.
Why Are People Traveling More?
According to an EasyJet survey, 67% of Brits plan to travel abroad more in 2024 than they did in 2023, and 77% now prioritize holiday spending above other budget categories — a jump from 70% the previous year. Clearly, people are valuing travel more than ever.
Deals Still Available
If you haven’t booked yet, don’t worry — there are still plenty of deals up for grabs. Think up to 20% off 1.2 million seats, with prices starting at just £24.99, plus up to £300 off easyJet holiday packages featuring over 5000 hotels.
EasyJet CEO's Take
Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet, said:
"Year after year, we see the value and importance of holidays to consumers, especially during this traditionally busy booking period. It's encouraging to see North African destinations gaining popularity alongside last-minute winter sun, city, and ski bookings for the new year. Destinations in Spain and Portugal continue to be firm favorites for our customers, while the popularity of easyJet holiday packages shows no sign of slowing down, with all-inclusive breaks being the most popular for 2024."
