Aer Lingus to Move Operations to JFK’s New Terminal 6 in 2026

JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), the company selected by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to develop and manage the new $4.2 billion Terminal 6 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, has announced that Aer Lingus will make Terminal 6 its new home at JFK. The airline will begin operations from the terminal on its very first day of service in early 2026.

As part of this move, Aer Lingus will unveil a brand-new signature lounge at Terminal 6. Designed to offer increased seating and enhanced comfort, the modern space will elevate the travel experience for Aer Lingus passengers.

What to Expect at JFK’s Terminal 6
The state-of-the-art Terminal 6 will feature a boutique design, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable travel experience. Passengers can expect:

  • Short walking distances to and from gates

  • Curated artwork throughout the terminal

  • 100,000 square feet of NYC-inspired shopping and dining

Aer Lingus will also introduce a new check-in area featuring self-service bag drop options for added convenience. Additionally, the airline’s partnership with JetBlue will allow for smooth connections within the same terminal.

Current Aer Lingus Services at JFK
Aer Lingus currently operates from JFK’s Terminal 7, offering:

  • Twice-daily nonstop flights to Dublin

  • Daily flights to Shannon, Ireland

  • Daily service to Manchester, England

Premium passengers can enjoy a dedicated Aer Lingus lounge at Terminal 7. Additionally, travelers flying from Dublin and Shannon benefit from US Preclearance, allowing them to clear US immigration and customs before departure, making arrival at JFK more efficient.

A Vision for the Future
Terminal 6, part of JFK’s $19 billion airport redevelopment plan, is being built in two phases. The first section, featuring five gates, is set to open in early 2026, with full completion expected by 2028. The terminal will include:

  • 10 gates, with nine capable of accommodating widebody aircraft

  • A five-minute average walking distance from security to gates

  • State-of-the-art baggage systems and security screening technologies

  • One of JFK’s longest departure curbs with airline-branded drop-off zones

  • Multiple airline lounges, including a dedicated arrivals lounge

  • Digital concierge services and locally curated artwork

  • A focus on sustainability, with rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient systems, and environmentally friendly materials

Excitement for the Move
"We've built a strong partnership with Aer Lingus since their move to Terminal 7 in 2023, and we’re excited to welcome them to Terminal 6 when it opens," said Steve Thody, CEO of JFK Millennium Partners.

"Terminal 6 will offer Aer Lingus customers a bright, tech-enabled space designed for comfort and convenience," added Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer of Aer Lingus. "With the addition of a brand-new dedicated lounge, we will further enhance the travel experience for our passengers."

JFK’s new Terminal 6 is set to redefine airport experiences, offering cutting-edge amenities and a seamless journey for passengers. Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses!
