ITA Airways: The Next Chapter After Alitalia's Legacy
For nearly 74 years, Alitalia was one of the world’s most iconic airlines. Now, under the fresh branding of ITA Airways, the airline is embarking on a new era of innovation and expansion. ITA Airways officially launched its operations with a domestic flight from Milan Linate to Bari and soon after introduced long-haul international service from Rome Fiumicino to New York JFK at the start of November.
A Promising Start for ITA Airways
During the recent World Aviation Festival in Amsterdam, Simple Flying had the opportunity to sit down with Fabio Lazzerini, CEO of ITA Airways, to discuss the airline’s progress in its first year. Lazzerini expressed enthusiasm, stating that ITA had "hit the ground running" and was "off to a great start."
He attributed the airline’s early success to its strong commitment to customer service and a modern fleet comprising Airbus A330s and A350s. With a focus on efficiency and comfort, ITA Airways has been building a reputation for reliability and premium service.
Expanding Horizons: New Routes & Future Plans
Looking ahead, ITA Airways is set to expand its global footprint with new routes planned for Asia, Africa, and Latin America in the coming years. Travelers can look forward to even more options as the airline works towards increasing connectivity worldwide.
Additionally, Lazzerini hinted at the possibility of further modernizing ITA’s fleet. The airline is considering adding new long-range aircraft, including the Airbus A350ULR and Boeing 777X, to enhance its capabilities and support its ambitious expansion plans.
