A Guide to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site is dedicated to remembering the nearly 3,000 people killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks and the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The 9/11 Memorial

The outdoor Memorial features two large reflecting pools located in the footprints of the Twin Towers. The names of those who died in the attacks are inscribed around the pools.

The Memorial provides a space for visitors to reflect on the lives lost and the events that changed New York City and the world.

The 9/11 Memorial Museum

The Museum is located beneath the Memorial plaza and incorporates portions of the original World Trade Center site. Its exhibitions document the events of September 11, the 1993 bombing, the response to the attacks and their aftermath.

Visitors can see artifacts, photographs, archival recordings, personal accounts and other materials that preserve the experiences of victims, survivors, first responders and others affected by the attacks.

The Museum's collection includes physical remnants from the World Trade Center as well as personal and historical materials documenting the events and their impact.

Planning a Visit

The 9/11 Memorial is located at the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. The outdoor Memorial is free to visit, while admission to the Museum requires a ticket.

Visitors can explore the Museum independently or use available guided and audio experiences to learn more about the exhibits and the history of the site.

The Memorial and Museum offer visitors an opportunity to remember the victims, learn about the events of September 11 and reflect on the lasting impact of the attacks.
