This 55-Year-Old Disney Restaurant Serves an All-You-Can-Eat Thanksgiving Feast Every Day

At Disney World in Orlando, Florida, Liberty Tree Tavern has turned Thanksgiving into a year-round dining tradition. Located in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom, the restaurant has served a Thanksgiving-style feast for nearly 55 years, with only brief interruptions for renovations and COVID-related closures.
The restaurant opened in 1971 alongside Magic Kingdom, and its menu has remained largely unchanged over the years. Its all-you-can-eat meal begins with rolls and a salad before the Patriot’s Platter is served with roast turkey, pot roast and smoked pork loin. The meal also includes stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and gravy.
The all-you-can-eat meal costs $44 for adults. Instead of traditional pumpkin pie, dessert is an Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake served with vanilla ice cream.
For Disney visitors looking for familiar American comfort food, the restaurant has developed a strong following. Eric John Martinson, a Disney World fan and creator of the Walt Disney World Tips and Tricks Facebook group, described it as one of the closest places in the resort to find traditional American comfort food.
Alexandria Sabo, who has visited Liberty Tree Tavern more than 20 times, described the restaurant as one of the best values at Magic Kingdom and across Walt Disney World.
The dining experience is closely connected to the historical theme of Liberty Square. The restaurant and surrounding area are designed as an homage to 18th-century colonial America.
Walt Disney originally developed a concept called Liberty Street for Disneyland in California in 1956. The idea included a Hall of Presidents and an attraction focused on the Constitution, but it was not ultimately developed there. A version was later incorporated into Disney World, where Liberty Square became part of the park’s historical-themed attractions.
The restaurant has six dining rooms, each named after figures from early United States history, including Betsy Ross, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Wooden floors and stairs designed to creak, colonial-style costumes worn by servers and pewter servingware contribute to the historical setting.
Although a Thanksgiving meal is not necessarily an accurate representation of what people in the 13 colonies would have eaten, the food is strongly associated with American history and the holiday tradition.
Despite Orlando’s hot and humid weather, Liberty Tree Tavern continues to attract guests who are willing to have a substantial meal before returning to the park. Fans regularly describe the Thanksgiving-style food as a major reason to visit.
James O’Donnell, culinary director for Magic Kingdom Park, said guests describe Liberty Tree Tavern as a “must-do dining spot” that they return to year after year. He also cited a recent example of a couple recreating a photograph from their honeymoon visit to the restaurant 50 years earlier.
The restaurant’s popularity also extends beyond the park. Fans regularly discuss how to recreate its dishes in Facebook groups and on Reddit, while copycat recipes for its salad, pot roast and dessert are available online.
Sabo said she has asked restaurant servers for details about making the champagne vinaigrette but has never received the exact recipe.
Martinson said the restaurant has a level of fan interest that is difficult to match among other Magic Kingdom dining locations. While visitors also recreate popular snacks such as Adventureland’s cheeseburger spring rolls and the giant cinnamon rolls from Gaston’s Tavern, he said no other sit-down restaurant has the same pull.
